Interpreting for Well Visits
This webinar covers interpreting for check-ups and well visits in the following areas of specialization: adult medicine, pediatrics, and dental clinic. The presenter will share resources, recommendations and best practices for interpreting in these settings. We will carefully look at standards of practice related to sight translation and assisting patients with forms. You will learn about a tool for quickly assessing sight translation requests along with practical suggestions for handling such requests, best practice recommendations for navigating privacy issues when assisting patients with paperwork, as well as how to handle the entering of personal information on forms. We will also review the importance of the pre-session.
The majority of the presentation is devoted into delving into what distinguishes annual check-ups for men vs women, adult vs an infant or child, and what one can expect will happen during these types of visits.
With the changes brought about by the implementation of Section 1557, more and more dental practices are scheduling interpreters for their patients. A review of practices for preventative (annual check-ups) and corrective (orthodontia) dental care will be reviewed.
Finally, links to reputable resources for glossaries and standards of practice will be provided.
